The Missouri Capitol Rotunda played host to the state’s
first State Sovereignty Rally, today (Wednesday,
January 13, 2010), bringing together legislators who
are working to protect Missourians from the Federal
government with citizens from across the state. Nearly
400 participants overflowed the rotunda and cheered
lawmakers and representatives of Missouri Sovereignty
Project as they discussed pending federal legislation
and Missouri’s House Joint Resolution 48 (HJR48),
which would prohibit any person, employer, or health
care provider from being compelled to participate in
any health care system.
Sen. Jane Cunningham (R - District 86) called all state
senators and representatives who supported the
resolution to join her on stage. Missouri’s Lt. Governor
Peter Kinder also joined the legislators to show his
support. Noticeably absent was Missouri Governor Jay
Nixon.
Following the rally, lobbying packets were distributed
and audience members were urged to visit their own
representatives and senators.
The rally was a joint effort by the MO Sovereignty
Project, ACT - Americans for Conservative Training,
Eagle Forum and MO Campaign for Liberty.
