Never Play Pattycake with a Slasher
By Dave Weinbaum
Diplomacy is a great thing. It can prevent wars. The Korean nuke crisis is a prime
example.
Our diplomatic pressure on North Korea, using neighboring countries and (ugh!)
the UN, stopped that cheatin’ lyin’ G-dfather wannabe, Kim Jong II, from making
nuclear bombs. He was enabled in his atom ambition by the ineptness of the
Clinton administration. In 1994 Bill made a deal with Jong that he couldn’t
refuse…to abuse. Kim began bilking us before the ink was dry. He did so for the
last 7 years of the Clinton’s reign.
That’s not diplomacy.
That’s naivety.
Bush’s choice of diplomacy in North Korea is a major feather in his tattered cap.
Without firing one shot and without one US casualty the Bush administration has
blocked Kim’s nuclear shot.
There’s no such thing as a civil war
The war on terror is not analogous to the above. We were attacked sadistically on
9/11/2001. Diplomacy flew out the window as 767s exploded through ours.
Then there was United flight 93.
Just minutes after the other jets hit, Flight 93 passengers learned of the horror of
the other hijackings from cell phone calls. Their instincts galvanized them to kill
their attackers before they could murder them or other innocents. “Let’s roll!”
became the sound of righteous retribution. Those Americans decided that
diplomacy wasn’t an option.
Sadly they were all silenced that day. But they did prevent attacks on other innocent
Americans. Those passengers did more to disrupt the terrorists than Bill Clinton
did in his 8 years in office.
How could Bush forget this valuable lesson?
We didn’t want this war. We weren’t given a choice. We still have none.
Our job is to win the war.
The way I understand war is you blow up the enemy and his weapons wherever
they are, until he surrenders or is killed.
Today that means Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. If we don’t win there, you can
count on us fighting in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco…if that demented town
is worth fighting for.
That’s what the US and its allies did in WW2. We turned Japan into rubble,
hounded Adolph into marriage then suicide, and watched as Mussolini’s fellow
Italians strung him up and paraded him for the world to see.
Then, after the Axis surrendered, we helped them establish democracies, under
our watchful eye. It took years to take effect. But anyone in their right mind can see
the success that it brought.
Contrarians drink to remember
Such is the case of the evil 9/11 planners, the leaders of al-Qaeda and the
Islamofacist movement within Islam, Osama Bin Laden and Dr. al-Zawahiri.
Soon after we invaded and conquered Afghanistan and Iraq, we found ourselves
with an ally in Musharaf in Pakistan and Karzi in Afghanistan. We delegated the job
of slamming al-Qaeda to our newest bestest “friends.” Not wanting to fall to coups,
they delegated our trust to local tribes…sort of like recruiting the Pope hunt down
Mother Theresa.
To the Bush administration the problem was solved. They took the temporary
silence from the region as success. They believed the center of al-Qaeda was
smashed even though we didn’t have the bodies of Dr. Z or Bin Laden.
Guess again.
The greatly misunderestimated President Bush has fallen for the same trap he
sprang on the arrogant Democrats in 2 elections.
He has vastly misunderestimated our enemies and over estimated our allies.
Mr. President, maybe you need to start drinking again so you’ll remember those
history lessons you learned at Yale.
Bush’s own intelligence agencies now claim that al-Qaeda is recovering, and that
Bin Laden and Zawahiri are still in control and command…approaching the levels
of pre 9/11. Apparently, they are no longer on the run. They regularly issue threats,
recruitment enticements, Jihadist praises, and even a joke or two. Dr. Z has made
more movies than Tom Cruise has lately, and some would say better ones.
At a time when our congress is stepping on each other in a vicious fight to see who
can hoist the white flag fastest, Bush must act now.
Time is of the essence. The terrorists are about to be rewarded for their
persistence and we’re about to be punished for our dereliction and misguidance.
Musharaf lacked…Zawaladen must be attacked!
What the hell are you waiting for Mr. President?
The American people need victory. .
Our troops deserve it.
Western civilization depends on it.
