Hi Dave, I really like your website and work. It's really interesting and life teaching!
I have a little saying,
*Leave the past
*Live the future
*and with God garantee the future.

PS: Im really enjoying working at St. Robert Mcdonald's  ;)

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Dear Lyly,

Thank you for your note. I’m glad you enjoy the website AND working at the St. Robert store.

Next time I’m in I’ll say “Hey” to you.

Lyly

Hi Dave,

That was a fast response, Thank you!

Ken Wilhelm (RE: Puns for educated minds)

Dave, loved #9, others as well.

Playhrt (RE: Puns for educated minds)

Hard to believe, but these are even worse than yours. Perhaps she left off part of the last word - "less."

Gail Kaplan (RE: a Great Retirement Plan)

Very savvy.

Pam Siegfried (RE:Sotomayor backers urge reporters to probe New Haven firefighter)

When I think of all the people I am supposed to be sympathetic toward- like Miranda of the Miranda
decision who was convicted later for that same rape.  Or the guy who murdered a child and got the court
to suppress the fact he led police to her body because the police had asked him to let her family give her a
Christian burial and that was ruled a coerced confession, why then am I supposed to think anything
about Ricci other than that he has been discriminated against multiple times and stands his ground.
Besides: HE WAS RIGHT!  So leave him alone and argue the merits- assuming there are any merits to
Sotomayor's decision in his case, which there are not.

Rep. David Day (RE: Super)

Love the site and love your writing.

Donald W. Bales (RE: Ever Get That Creepy Feeling...?)

That creepy feeling doesn't occur for me,  I didn't vote Democratic. Just as I knew about Bill Clinton
before he ran-you don't get called "Slick Willie" in Arkansas without a really good reason.
You don't go to Wright's church, hang out with Resco and Ayers without revealing a lot about your
character.

Donald W. Bales (RE: The One-Line Philosopher Thought For the Day, July 8, 2009)

In the book "Family Constellations" the author maintains that a woman with older brothers would make a
good match with the older brothers of sisters. That way they would be less likely to have a rank conflict.

Also the younger borther of sisters would make a good match for the older sister of brothers.

The older sisters of sisters and brother should not make a good match with an only child.

However, I was an only child and my wife had four younger sisters and one younger brother. We have
been happily married for 64 years. So there!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Got me there!

Donald W. Bales (RE: Taxi Driver Confessions)

No. If I pronounced them dead they always stayed dead. I never missed making a correct diagnosis of
death.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

I heard you carried a mallet with you just in case.

Donald W. Bales (RE: Editorial Cartoons Finally Wake Up)

It's about time for the cartoonists to get over it.

Donald W. Bales (RE: Three New Signs of the Times)

The bumper sticker people are catching on also. Good.

When you catch your bride striking matches in the bathroom to kill the smell, you know the honeymoon
is over.

Gail Kaplan (RE: Editorial Cartoonists Finally Wake Up)

One can only hope. The person who sent this to me is a liberal and lately she has been sending me
revelatory (at least, to her) stuff on "O." Perhaps, she and the others on her list are finally waking up.
Alas, it is much too late.

Robert Brown (RE: A Lawyer With a Heart)

I really like this one !!!  I just got to read it Thanks BB

Gail Kaplan (RE: Taxi driver Confessions)

Excellent!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Thanks Gail.

Vern and Fran (RE:Voices of Glory)

Thanks that one definitely puts tear’s in your eyes.  Awesome!!

Tracey Watson (RE: Voices of Glory)

"tear up??  Oh my God!  I was bawling like a baby!  2 kleenex warning!"

Gail Kaplan (RE: Voices of Glory)

This one definitely brought me to tears. Their voices are INCREDIBLE. The little girl's voice was so
powerful. I hope they win.

Bette

Funny, my maiden name was Weinbaum and I am a Conservative too.  It can't be caused by the name, so
it must be caused by the brain.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Get your Weinbaum butt on facebook and become my friend. I’m friends with about 70 other Weinbaums
I had no idea existed. A few of them are conservative also.

Robert Brown (RE: Voices of Glory)

I will pass this on, as this is hard to explain goosebumps, tearing, proud, awsome!!!  Thanks for sending
this to me as I eat up this kind of stuff BB

Norman Heebner

I am amazed at the attitude of some Americans as to the Canadian Health Care plan. Every Canadian will
agree it is not perfect but most Canadians are not willing to give it up. How many Americans are
complaining about your present Health Care?

Your Education System is run on tax-payer money, Everybody contribues and you have free education.
Why is doing the same for health care socialism but education run in a similar way is not?" Maybe
instead if blackballing a program with which you have no first-hand experience, please aquaint yourself
with it, study it, and then suggest improvements. Many of your fellow Americans who are without any
coverage now will thank you profusely.

Dave Weinbaum replies:
From the little research I’ve done it seems that there are long waits for serious disease, statistically more
deaths from disease than in the USA, age discrimination for treatments (a form of euthanasia), more
system expense, will take an increase in tax from everyone to pay for, and once again our government
grabbing 1/5th of our economy, costing trillions at a time when this country is, according to our president
“…out of money now.”

Thanks, but no thanks.

Norman Heebner

I don't agree with all your statements. I will not take time to refute them as much comes under the title of
"opinion"  Canadians are not without the ability to evaluate the system and again I say the majority
would not trade with the US. Good thing we are friends! Norman

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Like I said Norman , I haven’t done that much research, but like glasses, it’ll be something I’ll be looking
into

Robert Brown (RE: Three Italian Nuns)

Im going to H--- BB

ynscrt (RE: Gibbs On The Ropes)

You want fair and balanced? it doesn't come from FOX. It comes from Helen Thomas.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

The inmates are taking over the asylum.

Pam (RE: 'Better' Health Care)

One of our oldest son's high school classmates, back in Rolla from Ottawa, Canada for the 10th reunion,
said that after he tore his ACL skiing he laid in bed for 4 months, then another 4 months until he could get
his MRI, since there are 2 machines in Ottawa.  He said after 8 months of waiting, he basically regained
the ability to walk, but he is completely out of sports now and hasn't decided if he wants to try to
pursue surgery.

Rationing will come.  It is inevitable.  Ms. Emerson said there was "no way" single payor care would
pass the Senate.  I will believe it when I see it.  The pressure to euthanize the "inconvenient" will
increase.  God help us all.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Gotta keep the pressure on by getting the word out.

Dingani Beza (RE: Obama Suppresses EPA Report)

"Dave...I can always count on you for an interesting read or two..but..I feel if I base my opinion of an
elected official on scams and cover ups...i'm the idiot! Not them.  Every politician is forced to "cover up"
and "lie" for certain agendas that we as the American people our sometimes privy to, and other times we
are totally in the dark.  At no point in history has any government, or elected official, been able to be 100
percent "honest." We, as citizens, should just realize that every official, dem. or republican, that we vote
for is crooked in some way.   Its sad, but its the nature of the beast.  Now, does Obama have demons,
yes. FOX news will continue to uncover Obama's demons, and MSNBC will continue to expose the
demons of McCain and the republicans and so on...its all one big game. And the sad part is...the losers are
95 % of Americans..... (cant wait to hear your response. LOL!)"

Donald W. Bales (RE: Schmuck)

I already commented about Schmuck."

Dave Weinbaum replies:

"I already commented about Schmuck."

If you’re referring to me personally, Don, I represent that remark!

Donald W. Bales (RE: Schmuck)

I'm glad you don't resemble it!

No. I don't think you are a Schmuck. You might even be a Mensch.

Vern and Fran

Just remember Dave- - - - the Jews were and still are,  God’s favorite children and rightfully so!!  God
Bless and we are sooo proud to have you in our family.  But it is sad how the media has to bring this out.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

“…we are sooo proud to have you in our family.”

The feeling is reciprocated.  Proud to be IN the family.

Vern and Fran (RE: Obama Suppresses EPA Report)

Have been listening to this on the tube this AM.  Good Old Al Gore sure did get something started and
looks like they owe him a favor for not running for the Big Slot.  How sad - - - - they show record setting
temps in Phoenix and amazing how many were set in the 70’s and 80’s when no one heard of global
warming.  Think they should consider parking Gore’s butt on an iceberg somewhere and let him watch to
see how fast the ice melts.

Katharine (RE: Schmuck)

I can tell you that schmuck is alive and well in my household… and I still use schmegeggie on a regular
basis much to the chagrin of my co-workers, friends, and others who know no Yiddish!

Hope all is going well for you Dave… if you didn’t catch Meet the Press this weekend, try pulling it up
on YouTube or something.  If I had an outlet to publish and article I would have written something on
that circus that occurred yesterday morning.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Things are going pretty well, Katharine. Hope the same for you. Saw MTP Sunday. Almost too many
scams to write about!

Katharine (RE: Schmuck)

No doubt – it bothers me that Mitt Romney was talking about his state health care plan like it worked….
From everything I read, it is going bankrupt and the service on it is terrible.  I see my future going down
the drain every time I turn on the TV.  1/20/2013…. Change I CAN believe in.  LOL.

Have a good one and I look forward to your next masterpiece.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

“I look forward to your next masterpiece. ”

NOW the pressure is on! :>)

Ken Wilhelm (RE: Schmuck)

Alarming news, thanks for this heads up, could "Gonnif" be far behind?

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Good question Nudnik.

Robert Brown

Your friend, BB , has sent you a link to this story: Cards acquire versatile DeRosa from Indians

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9740910/Cards-acquire-versatile-DeRosa-from-Indians

Great move as of now but we need to see who the player to be named is. Derosa I have liked a lot since I
started to see him play with the Cubs. This will help us get over the top & win our division. This is his
walk year & I would like to see if we can resign him for a 2 yr contract at a reasonable cost. I am happy
we kept Motte instead of Perez as I think his ceiling is higher. Ankiel I think will start to pick it up. He
has to keep on working on hitting the ball to right & the junk stuff is getting him out.  Lud is missing to
many good pitches & seems to have a slower bat than last year. I had him figured to be pretty good
hitter. I may end up being wrong. K Greene I thought was a good deal from the beginning as he had a great
spring but the pressure got to him. I am pulling for him big time but he might not make it & probably
wont. When Ryans Wrist is healthy tlr has to let him play his way as it is obvious to me tlr was trying to
change his fielding style as he is now rated as the best or 2nd best ss in the NL. Leave him alone & let him
PLAY!!  BB

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Got it…looks like an excellent move. They NEVER should have let Eckstein or Miles go. Those guys are
the reason we won in 06’

Donald W. Bales (RE: Schmuck)

Good. It needs preserving and not just for Yiddish speakers.

As for me, I object using such words as "dick" and "prick" in a pejorative fashion They are referring to a
noble organ, worthy of respect.

Also I don't like the use of the "F" wordin a derogatory fashion.  It refersto an activity which should be
the greatest pleasure for men (I hope also for women).

Finally I also don't like using "asshoie" that way. If that hole gets plugged up, you will find out in a hurry
how important it is.

I am in a bad fix as to bad words. I use to refer to some bad person as follows: He's incestuous and when
he goes home, his morthe will run out from under the porch and bite him." My son told me that male
dogs were nice and female dogs were just as nice and I shouldn't be using a nice female dog in that way.

Or he has a "low IQ and his parebts aren't  marrued,"

As I thought about this, I reflected that the low IQ was likely hereditary and the man was not responsible
for his parents not being married.

I complained about the loss my favorite appelations to a woman columnist and she advised me to call
them "pond scum." Somehow that really does not have the emotional kick to it that one needs.

I am grateful to the Anglo-Saxons. They gave us four letter words that carried more meaning and more
emotional impact than would a paragraph in some other language.

By all means, keep "schuck."

Mark Greenstein (RE: Schmuck)

As I would say in Brooklyn ,  that's some funny shit.  Thanks for sharing.

Gail Kaplan (RE: Schmuck)

How appropriate that you sent me this today, since it's Mel Brooks' birthday. He is 83.

Vern and Fran (RE: You're Welcome Mr. President)

David – you should apply to be Obama’s speech writer – or maybe you should have him on your daily e-
mail.

Vern thinks you two would make a great team!  (He is an asshole!!!)

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Fran,

“Vern thinks you two would make a great team!  (He is an asshole!!!)”

Who were you referring to? What would that make me?

A concerned son-in-law

ysncrt

I don't agree with everything Obama does, but I'm glad i didn't vote for McCain--- he either never had the
temperament to be president or just losing it, or both.

Donald W. Bales (RE: A Lawyer With A Heart)

Another story at the expense of lawyers. I am a law and order person and I well aware of the need for
lawyers. I have known some that I have admired and admire, but it is my opinion that the legal system
has been grossly misused and I have no respect for some of the judges.

Darren Clements (RE: A Lawyer With A Heart)

ha! reminds me of my neighbor, who is a real asshole and could care less for the down and out.....
yesterday morning i went to town about 6:30 in the a.m., and noticed a man, woman, and dog, walking
down 63.......when i got home out here in edgar hours later, by chance, they were at the end of our private
drive sitting in the shade....it was about 93 degrees....the man stopped me and asked of they could fill
their water bottles somewhere....i told him i would run home and get him a gallon jug of water......on my
way back up to 63, i passed my neighbor, who stopped me and said there was some white trash up at the
end of the road....he said he told them to move along, but some "dumbshit" on our road had told them
they'd bring water....i just smiled and raised my jug of water at him....also took the dog a big baggie of dog
food!

There really is something wrong with Limabaugh:

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Oh c’mon Jon, Limbaugh is being pilloried for satire, taken totally out of context

Pam Siegfried (RE: Incredible Story)

I get stories passed on to me, the "heartwarming" so-called stories.  It almost doesn't matter if they are
true or not because you want them to be.  You want the world to be like that.  It does matter because
passing on a falsehood as true pollutes the knowledge pool and everyone ought to check something like
Snopes before they pass it on.  But whether or not a cabbie drove an old woman all over town for free
before dropping her off at the hospice or whether a father gave his son a blue ribbon because he loved him
on the night his son had intended to kill himself because he felt unloved: there is still truth there even
though the example given is a fable and not real.  Oh, and I liked the elephant story.  Probably not the
same elephant.

Playhrt (RE: Lawyer with a Heart)

Very Good!Donald W. Bales

Jon: (RE: You're Welcome Mr. President...)

sue the bastard!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Know a good lawyer? As to what it was, it was the whole premise of made up TV shows…then he used
the one in my title, “leave it to Uigher(s)” I guess him adding the “s” was supposed to make it different.
Read my column then listen to his speech…

Jon (RE: You're Welcome Mr. President)

I know I'm going to regret this, but who are the  Uighers?

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Chinese Muslim terrorists trained by al-Qaeda, captured and sent to Gitmo, then four let go by Obama
and sent to Bermuda .

Jon (RE: You're Welcome Mr. President)

didn't know that is what they are called--thanks-- now go back to bed, nudnik!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Kiss my Hebe ass! What do you think, these columns emanate from Mt. Sinai ?  I have day jobs, so I do
most of my writing early morning…Putz!

Oliver Ruff

Dear All,

The language is highly inappropriate, however, there is an inherent message lingering.  Beware of
elephants, they might not be the one that you helped or thought them to be.  Please view and forgive the
forward for anything other than the language and not the message.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

I’m shocked you even sent this off!

Oliver Ruff (RE: You're Welcome Mr. President...)

Dear Dave,

I trust that you are proud that someone in the public arena views your articles with substance and wishes
to use them.  That is a complement to you, isn't it?  I trust that you were not offended but rewarded with
the acknowledgement.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

When you use someone else’s material the protocol is to acknowledge that person. I’m not terribly
offended because I don’t make my living thru my writing. Besides, I’ve had my material stolen by
Hillary, Rush , Cal Thomas, Ann Coulter and others. If I get something from them, I mention their name
(s).

As to the elephant joke, I find it hard to believe that the vicious hitter I ran into on the football field is
such a gentleman.  I don’t send you all my material because I don’t want to offend you.

Oliver

I do agree with protocol and precedence whenever formally established.  However, I do agree that the
courteous thing would be to acknowledge one's works.  You are a very prominent young man.  Many
persons want to quote your material and dissect it.  Therefore, I can understand your concern.  I know
that you are very good about acknowledging others whether deservingly so or not.  The present case
being an example, smile!!

Being a gentleman is far from being a beast.  Each category has its place.  I try to be appropriate wherever
possible.  Contrary to popular belief, I am no push over if offended.  I do belief in being courteous,
sympathetic, empathic, caring, sometimes daring, courageous, yet charismatic when necessary.  That is
just my modus operandi.  Perhaps life is such that if there is a need to be a vicious hitter, I can resurrect
that behavior if necessary.

You take care and I will always treasure our friendship.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

“Perhaps life is such that if there is a need to be a vicious hitter, I can resurrect that behavior if necessary”

Thank G-d you haven’t lost it! And I know for a fact how substantial that can be.

Tracey (RE: This is an Incredible Story)

as opposed to the "evil" sister?  Or maybe the "poor misguided sister" (taking a page out of the storyline

LOL!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

I’ll let you figure it out…

Jon: (RE: This is an Incredible Story)

beautiful! off it went!

Donald W. Bales (RE: This is an Incredible Story)

Sad story. But I had to laugh anyway.

Gail Kaplan (RE: This is an Incredible Story)

Check this out: http://www.snopes.com/critters/malice/elephant.asp. I thought this was bullshit too.
Most of the stuff I get from people is false. They really must check snopes.com. In this case, it wasn't a
piece of wood, but a thorn. Doesn't matter, anyway. This incredible story is not so incredible, but false.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

I hope you’re joking with me Gail. Otherwise it might be time to adjust the meds.

Henry (RE: This is an Incredible Story)

LOL   That was hilarious....................  love it...

Jon (RE: Help Trader Joe's Combat Anti-Israel Pressure)

I went to Trader Joe's in Kenwood looking for some of these idiots on Saturday.  No such luck.  They

Jon (RE: Help Trader Joe's Combat Anti-Israel Pressure)

good one, nudnik!

For those of you who follow Charles Krauthammer (too right wing for me but I respect him enough to
follow what he has to say), I'm attaching a recent interview in the Jerusalem Post.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

What I think is Krauthammer is the greatest political analyst of the present and maybe the past. And to
think I’m on the same page and a colleague and now friend of this man is mind-boggling.

Jon:

name dropper!

Dave Weinbaum replies:

I read your stuff daily also. But you may have noticed that.

Happy Father’s Day!

Susan Hynes (RE: Obama's Personal Physician Opposes National Health Insurance)

Hey Dave,

Did you read that whole Forbes article about Presbo’s doc? He doesn’t so much knock it, as say that it
isn’t enough – he wants a single payer system – please G-d, no! I like my Blue Cross PPO, it’s the best
insurance I’ve had since I left Army active duty.

Scheiner thinks that a good health reform would be "Medicare for all," a single-payer system where the
government would cover everyone and pay for it by cutting out waste in the system. "A neurosurgeon
gets paid $20,000 for cutting into the neck of my patient. Have him get paid $1 million a year instead of
$2 million or $3 million. He won't starve," Scheiner says.

Becky Crosby (RE:  Call Me Senator, Not Ma'am)

Foolishness!!!

Vern and Fran (RE: The turn of a progressive secular)

Very well stated!!

Pam Siegfried (RE: The turning of a progressive secular)

The enemy of our enemy is not necessarily our friend, and Bill Maher is not our friend.  Is he aware that
Obama has signed on to Bush's allegedly horrible ideas- even wanting to rewrite the Army Field Manual
so it accords with CIA interrogation tactics.  His calling Obama a TV star is correct.  All Obama wanted
to do as President of the United States was be President of the United States.  I think he is still testing
out the new chair and playing with the buttons.  Maybe he'll grow into the job.

Donald W. Bales (RE: It's a Catholic Thing)

I am not Catholic or Episcopalian, and as a United Methodist don't know much about nuns. It may be
that the Catholic and Anglican (Episcopalian) men are so lacking in fight that they might want to turn
over the fighting to women with vows of following Christian principles. That is ever worse than the
French, but it would surely lead to defeat. There is not supposed to be violence in Paradise , is there?
Even in a Muslim Paradise ?

Dave Weinbaum replies:

“There is not supposed to be violence in Paradise , is there? Even in a Muslim Paradise ?”

We’ll never know the answer to that until it’s too late.

Donald W. Bales (RE: The turning of a progressive secular)

Bill Maher has at last written something that I agree with. However, Obama's main asset is his pleasing
appearance and his fluent rhetoric. He is using this to snow everyone not to examine his policies. I believe
every one of them is wrong and that they will harm the U.S.-not help it. But with the fawning media and
his adoring supporters, he will likely get away with blaming all the problems on Bush or on
circumstances beyond his control.

So far as Bush passing all the things Maher claims-all money bills have to come from the House and all
legislation (that is not done by the courts) is done by the Congress. The President does not have the
power to force bills that the Congress does not approve.

Unfortunately, Bill Maher has not been turned. He doesn't have enough gumption to be turned.

Jon: (RE: The turning of a progressive secular)

I watch him. He wants the end of Obamathon for an entirely different reason as you, though.

Dave Weinbaum replies:

Ah, always looking for the respite in a repute.
